Q. Will you start construction if all the money hasn’t been raised?

A. Construction of the field and track (now known as Phase I) will begin in March of 2015. The BISD must vote to finance the construction costs of the new field and the Rebel Legacy Project will pay over the next seven years. This will allow us to have the new field in place by mid-September of 2015. This is a huge step forward for this incredible project. The field will be marked for football, soccer and lacrosse.

Q. Who is coordinating the Rebel Legacy Project?

A. The organization behind the Rebel Legacy is broad and deep; consisting of parents of elementary, middle and high school students, community leaders, and the Richland Athletic Booster Clubs to name a few. There is a 10 person advisory board responsible for coordinating the fundraising and serving as the liaison to help select the construction company.

Q. Will the naming rights to the new facility be available to purchase?

A. Both the Field itself and the Facility are available for naming rights, much like those at the University of Texas and TCU.

Q. Is the school district in support of this effort?

A. Yes. We not only have the district’s blessing but they hope this project can become a model of public/private partnerships for the BISD.

A. Yes, it has been done! Ft. Worth Paschal and Ft. Worth Arlington Heights recently constructed turf fields and facilities with funds raised by the booster clubs.

A. Some level of field maintenance will be covered by the selected construction company; however, ongoing revenue generation is a component of fundraising efforts to go towards the ongoing cost of maintenance.

Q. What is the life expectancy of the field?

A. Approximately 12-15 years.

Q. Where will the money come from to replace the field when that time comes?

A. We have provided for a recurring revenue stream in our fundraising efforts. Approximately 20 signs will be sold for sponsorships and placed along the fence of the football field. These, combined with revenue from renting the field to local organizations will generate up to $40,000 per year, which will be saved for future maintenance and financing the project.

Q. Once completed, who will own the field and new facilities?

A. The Birdville Independent School District will own and be responsible for the improvements.

Q. Will the public be able to use the field?

A. It is our intention for the public to be able to reserve the field for a fee. We have already had preliminary conversations with the YMCA, Youth Soccer League and other local recreational leagues. We are working with the school district to retain these fees and use them toward maintenance of the facilities. If you have any question, please contact us!
